Hosting some 2,000 events and more than 400,000 visitors each year, the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf is one of Germany’s biggest and most important convention centres. To ensure that the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf remains excellently positioned for the future as well, since the beginning of 2009 a comprehensive programme of modernisation and alteration has been in progress. Besides setting fresh design accents, work also focuses on functional optimisation of the room setup.
Last year the foyer area of the CCD Süd was given a facelift. Mid-2009 new illuminated banners, info counters and seating arrangements added modern touches there. Then last August the CCD Business Lounge celebrated its opening. These new premises offer customers and visitors to the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf information and communication headquarters fitted out with the very latest technical features. In May 2010 these new appointments were enhanced by the addition of two ‘Charging Stations’ – state-of-the-art mobile charging points for mobile phones. Designed specially for the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf in the shape of a freestanding cube, the charging stations enable visitors to hook up all standard-model cell phones to the station during events and recharge them on the spot. Meanwhile the foyer area of the CCD Stadthalle has also been given a more modern look with new LED counters in different colour arrangements.
As the next stage of the modernisation programme, rooms 5 to 8 on the first floor of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf are to undergo extensive alteration. The conference rooms ranging in size from 68 to 178 m² will be fully refurbished and fitted out with new air conditioning and a sophisticated lighting situation. Mobile partition walls will also make it possible to transform the individual units into a single exhibition area measuring more than 500 m². This means that the first floor will shortly provide more than 1,200 m² of exhibition space – creating the perfect platform for poster exhibitions, for one. Modernisation work on rooms 5 to 8 is scheduled for completion by the end of the 2011 summer break.
Above and beyond these specific measures, ideas have already been floated for further modernisation of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf. 2011 will see work launched on general redevelopment of rooms 4a to 4c, with a greened over, planted atrium in their midst lending them a completely new flair.
This comprehensive modernisation concept for the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf is designed to introduce a uniformly modern atmosphere throughout the CCD, to accommodate new technical requirements and to further optimise the premises available.
