Sustainable Meetings

As a corporate enterprise, Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event is part of society and therefore understands that it is among its tasks to take on social and ecological responsibility. For this reason, corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the company’s corporate strategy. Through the introduction of various measures in the areas of waste management, logistics, transport and energy, the company guarantees that events are executed in the most environmentally-friendly way possible.

The CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf has been awarded the Green Globe Certificate three times in a row. With the certifications 2010 and 2012, it has become one of the first convention centres worldwide to receive awards for sustainability. In addition to environmental considerations, the assessment procedure also reviews economic and social criteria.

The organisation "Green Globe Certification", together with the European Association of Event Centers (EVVC), has developed a certification procedure especially for event facilities. In the course of the assessment procedure, independent auditors check the sustainability management of the facilities on the basis of verifiable and practice-relevant criteria. Only venue facilities that meet at least 50 percent of the existing core criteria receive the award.

Furthermore, the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf is bound by the "fairpflichtet" codex of sustainability, a voluntary commitment by members of the meetings industry in German-speaking countries. Its objective is the continuous improvement of sustainable practices in ecological, social and economic terms. The codex comprises ten guidelines reflecting the qualitative goal: the balancing of economic, ecological and social aspects.
